Edward Leland Ellis 1854
No relation to me, just passing it on, but have more on the family.
Found at Dodge Co., History Center:
Ellis, Edward L., a farmer, Ashland township, is a native of WI., and was born Nov 24, 1854. He was raised on a farm and educated in the district schools. He came with his parents to this country in 1862, locating in Mantorville. The next year they settled in Ashland, where our subject has since resided. In 1877 he was united in marriage to Hettie Saunders of Dodge Center, and to this union three children have been born, of who two survive, as follows - George M. and Birdie Ellis. Mr. Ellia is a prohibitionist, but in local matters he affiliates with the republicans. He has been prominent in the affairs of this township, having held the positions of treasure of school district and is at present township chairman. The family are members of the Seventh Day Baptist church, in which organization Mr. Ellis has been a trustee for over twenty years. He is the owner of 900 acres of fine land, all of which is the result of his own labor and foresight.
