Hello,
I think we're working on the same family. I am working with an Elizabeth Wooden/Woodin (b 1797 in Maryland) who married first a Mr. Selby and then a Mr. Ellis. She had a few children by Mr. Selby.
What you're interested in is the Ellis line, and our names match up. This couple had Newton b1822 PA, Monroe b1824 PA, lived in 1850, Milton, Jackson OH with wife Mariah, then Decatur, Iowa in 1860 with his brother Henry, then on 25 May 1861 married a Mary A Cochran in Appanoose, Iowa, registered for Civil War draft in 1863 in Sharon, Appanoose, living in Appanoose in 1870 with Mary Ann. There are more siblings: Henry B, b 1825 PA, living in Wapello, Iowa in the 1850 census with his family, then in 1860 in Decatur, moved to Oregon sometime between 1861-1870, appears in 1880 census in Jackson, Polk, ORE, where he immediately divorces his wife, then dies in 1900 and is buried in same cemetery as younger bro Wooden. Wooden, b1827 PA, was living in Appanoose in 1850 with younger bro James, almost married in 1852 in Jackson, OH (registered but no return listed), 1860 single living with bro Henry in Decatur, 1880 single living in Jackson, Polk, ORE, died 1887. Youngest child: James, b 1829 PA, living in Appanoose 1850 with wife Susannah, infant dau Matilda. The mom appears in the 1850 census in Jackson, OH with one son, then 1860 Decatur, with Henry. We have a copy of a letter she sent her son by her first marriage, Thomas Selby, in 1863. It's a very tender condolence on the death of her son's son in the Civil War. I haven't figured out when she died or the first names of her two husbands.
