The Ellises of Stonington Connecticut
I'm seeking information on the Ellises who first appear in the records of Stonington Connecticut around 1697.They may have included some brothers and sisters of childbearing age as most of the records are of infant baptisms.I find them there until around 1752, then nothing more. One of the children born in 1748, David, went to Nova Scotia shortly before 1776; the rest just sort of vanish from the Stonington area.Richard Jr. and his stepchildren make a brief appearance in Preston CT later, but then...nothing.
Since David was a Loyalist, it is possible that other members of the family shared his views and fled or had their lives made difficult by his behavior and had to leave the community. But possibilities aren't facts.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has information on Richard, Peter, Lovisa, Nathan, Mary, Daniel,Ennes, Thankful,or any of John's children.I would like to know where the family came from and where they vanished to.
Thanks,
Betsy Mickey
