Mary, I too had tried to repost after the originals timed out and then all of the posts show up.Life in this modern age...I looked up on the Federal Gov site National Park System Soldiers and Sailors
There are two listings for E.P.Wilkins though none in KY.Would of it been possible he joined 8Ark.CAV.?Unfortunately there are no records for that unit. The other an ALA Regiment from the eastern part of TN./N. Ala.
There are 15 Richards no Richard N.'s.Again no mustered in KY. but there is one that might be he enlisted in 42nd TN.Inf.which mustered at Camp Cheatham near Springfield TN.(Just N. of Nashville). How far is that from Hokinsville,KY?Both are Confederate Regiments.Early in the war some traveled great distance to muster as enlistment wasn't avail in their area. Many not from a great patriotic lust but to gain employment. Some of my own kin fall into this category. You probably know Jeff Davis,Pres. of the Confederacy, was b. in Christian CO.KY. I know a man,I am quite the Civil War Buff, that has researched the 42nd TN. Inf.to my recollection. What you need is his CMSR,complied military service records, for more info.Such as age at time of enlistment and nativity. Marshall would have been to young in 1861 maybe by 1865 as conscription laws changed but, I don't find him in any unit. I hope this helps. Let me talk to my friend and I'll get back to you. Good luck, Michael P.Elliott
