I have been reading information on the Elliott's. I was hoping to find out more about Jemima Elliott who married Jesse White. My Great-Great Grandmother Jemima Elliott born
1818 and married Jessee White born 1820. He born South Carolina(according to 1850 census) and her birthplace unknown. They married 3 Sept, 1840 in McMinn Co, Tenn.I only have information from Jesse White's decendant as well as the 1850 Union Co,Ga census. It has Joseph 6 yrs,Jefferson 4 yrs,John 3years,James 2 years and Jesse 1 year. All but Jesse was born Tennessee, he was born Ga.Now the decendant of Jesse has a Rebecca as born 1852 in Tn.
I do know from my family both my Grandmother as well as her children that they was told that Jemima was l/2 of Indian blood and they said her mother was full blood.
Now I do know that my Great-grandmother came went to Kentucky as a young girl in a covered wagon pulled by oxens. Her father, William J. White born 22 Dec 1843,McMinn Co, Tenn and died Caldwell Co, Ky Aug 21,1914.On his death certificate he has his father as Jesse White born McMinn Co, Tn and Mother Jemima Elliott born McMinn Co, Tn.Information was given by his son Sommery White(Sumner)
White.William J. White was married to Susan C.Hamilton born
June 2, 1848 and died Mar 11,1915.Most of their children went to live in Illinois. The name Pierson and Joseph, as well as Lettie is in this family? Just information that might be of help. Also they was within a few miles of where the Trail of Tears went through and has what I was told was family of Jemima, buried there.I was told repeatly by my Grandmother.
