I think they were living in St.Joseph County. I have information on an Elliott family that had a 4 year-old daughter named Ruth that died around the time Hazel was born. The parents were Minnie Mae Crane and either Warren or William Elliott. Hazel's birth records were lost in a fire at the county building. Hazel named her only child Ruth. I thought perhaps the other Ruth was her sister, but it could be coincidence. Hazel worked as a maid in Michigan before having Ruth in 1920. I always wondered if the young marriage had something to do with the rift. My Grandmother, Ruth, is still alive, she doesn't know me any more, dementia. She didn't like talking about her mother's family. I don't think she knew much about them, but she did have hurt feelings. Sometimes this feels like an old wound that never healed. Thanks for the quick reply. cb
