I am looking for information regarding Uriah Ellenberger.
My late uncle put together a family tree back in the 1970's (before computers - ugh!) however, the earliest ancestor he found was someone named Uriah Ellenberger, born in 1792 and died on January 10, 1845. He married Elizabeth Lint (b. 1799, d. 1873) They had 9 children,
Elijah married Jane Bales
Henry not married?
John married Caroline Hodge and Anna Hillen - my great grandfather
Kate married John Darr
Elizabeth married Aaron Lint
Nancy married Henry Lint
Sally married James Torrence
Fanny married Albert Lawrence
Harriet married Peter Lint
My problem is that I can not find a record of a Uriah Ellenberger and he could never find anything earlier, either.
He said that the family came
from Germany and settled in Hanging Rock, Pa. which is near Philadelphia.
From there they moved to Somerset, Pa and then finally settled in Fayette County, Pa in about 1843.
Does anyone have any information? I am afraid my uncle may have gotten the Uriah name wrong because I do not see the name on any census.
