I have seen family tree information on the ancestry.com site that shows two William Elkins from Roane, Tennessee. One born in 1797 and one in 1801. One with a wife named Temperance Amos and one with a wife named Mary Ann Davis. The strange thing is in both lines, they have children named Nathaniel, Samuel D., Thomas and James Franklin. Could those of you with ancestors in these two lines please shed some light on this. My g.grandfather was Samuel D. Elkins, but what I can't determine is if he was the son of William and Mary Ann or the son of William and Temperance. Please someone, clear up this confusion.
