P H Elkins - WW1 - England

In the course of my own family research I have a copy of the London Gazette dated 25 May 1917. This is the official list of officers and men who have distinguished themselves in battle and are 'Mentioned in Despatches'. There is an entry for Serjt. P H Elkins, No.10574 Royal Berkshire Regiment.

No other information is available in the newspaper, but the service records may well exist in the Public Records Office in Kew, London. These give all kinds of information about family, addresses etc. as well as the service history of the man concerned.
