Waht I know is that Elizalde means close to the church in basque and comes from the region of the basques from Northern Spain. Somehow they traveled to Mexico, in 18 hundreds my greatgrandfather Lucas Elizalde that Lived in Zacatecas, Mexico, moved to the northern part of Mexico and acquire a big amount of properties, that is in Jimenez,Chihuahua, Mexico. His son Benito Elizalde had a son named Julian Elizalde that is my granfather, they lived still in Jimenez, now my family still lives in Chihuahua, Mexico. I hope this information helps you.
