Robert Elliot b. 1695( father Laird Robert Elliot of Midlem Mill,Roxburghshire, his father Gavin of Grange and Midlem Mill, family of Stobs, direct descendents of Robert Ellwold(Ellot-Elliot)(get used to the many spellings, over onehundred fifty!)original clan chief brought to the borders from the great pass at Glenn Shea,Forfarshire central highlands in the service of King Robert the Bruce ) came to the U.S. in 1737 and settled in the Carlisle,Cumberland Co.PA..I'm not sure if he was the first.Andrew Elliot, family of Minto, was an official in New York state and some say is directly responsible for insiting the American Revolutionary War.22% of the world population has Scots genetics as they spred out.Because of persucution of the Border Reiver Families dating to the rein of James I(unifying of the crowns) ,1600-1625 many Elliots fled Scotland.Conservitivly over six hundred hung or drowned in those years. Many went to N.Ireland where you see the double "T".
Before I go into the history of the Twelve families in Scotland. Respond. The history is emense (pre-surnames)and the posting old.Yours Aye
