Robert Eliot was born about 1643, possibly in Portsmouth, Rockingham County, NH. He died 24 March 1724, possibly in nearby Kittery, York, Maine. He resided in both places (Portsmouth was earlier called Strawberry Bank) and also in Newcastle, NH, and Scarborough, Maine. He married, before 1683, Margaret/"Margery" Batson, whose earlier husbands were (1) William Kendall, and (2) Richard Young (of Cape Porpoise, Maine). Robert's children included Elizabeth Eliot, who married George Vaughan; Sarah Eliot, b. 1 Oct. 1689, who married Timothy Gerrish; Jane Eliot, b. 13 Feb. 1684, who married (1) Andrew Pepperell, and (2) Charles Frost; and Abigail Eliot, who married Daniel Greenough, of Newcastle. Robert may also have had two sons: Humphrey and Robert. Sources: Everett S.
