I've just started to trace my roots, and I know that my father's family is originally from Romania. I'm not sure if my grandfather Harry (Herschel?) was born in Romania or New York City, but he married the former Jennie Friedman (also from Romania) in Philadelphia in the late 1800s, and they had five children between 1898 and 1910. Somewhere along the line, the name of the New York branch of the family changed to Ellis. I'd appreciate any further information you could provide.
