Hi geners,
I'm searching my roots. my father was born in Romania .
the surname is Eliescu. all my reaserches gave me only the
names Eliyahu and Elias. i read many articles and asked at 'Beit-Hatfuthot' about it. the answer was that the original surname are probably from Ilia or Eliyahu (a first name)
and the 'escu' is a romanian suffix. they told me that Eliyahu is Elias in Greek and they offered me to search the sepharadic genealogy.
I don't have no one to ask about because my father died (in Israel) just as almost his big family(8 sis. & brth.).
can it be what they told me? how to continue? where to search? does someone know about the family Eliescu ?
am I realy Elias or Eliyahu? I'm confused.
I need any help.
thanks
regards

Mika Hovav
