I am looking for Nicholas von Elias. He was my gr-great grandfather. Family legend has it that he fled to avoid military service and was "supposedly" from some type of "royalty". I don't have a birthdate for him (possibly sometime in the 1820s) but I know he married in Detroit, Michigan in the mid to late 1850s. His wife was Elizabeth (Bertha) Schnettler. They moved from Detroit to the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan (Copper Country) and back to Detroit and then to St. Nazianz, Manitowac County, Wisconsin - all during the 1860s. They moved again to the Keweenaw in the 1870s and at some point between then and ca. 1912 approximately Elizabeth died and Nicholas moved to Detroit with his daughter, Regina and her husband, Henry Warbler. I do not know if and/or how many siblings Nicholas had or even what their names are. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
