I am cuban and I am pretty sure that my second last name SANCHEZ comes from Spain (in spanish speaking countries we have 2 lastnames: one from the father and the second from the mother). However, my first lastname ELIAS has always been a curiosity for me. My father tells me that his great grandfather was either arabian or jewish. I didn't know that there was a inmigration to cuba from those countries at that time. Anybody has a clue about the lastname ELIAS in cuba?
