My ancestors in Leochel-Cushnie Parish, Aberdeenshire had surname "LIAS" later changed to the Scottish "LEYS". I have an Alexander Lias and a John Lias marrying around 1700 - no idea where they came from! Were they originally "Elias" perhaps?!
