Eldridge Family Genealogy Forum

JENNIE, your father and my husband are 2nd cousins, with their common ancestor being David Eldridge & Elizabeth Bridges, who were great-grandparents to both. Thus you would be a 2nd cousin once removed (different generation). David died in Knoxville 5 May 1878 and is buried in Old Gray's Cemetery. I visited Knoxville just once about six years ago and found David's grave stone.
George E. & Lola B., your grandparents, had 5 children: Ella M. 1913, Bertha F. 1914, George T. 1917, John O 1918, & Ralph Nov 1919. I have no information on any of these children other than year of birth, which info I got from the 1920 census.
At the time that great-grandfather David died, his widow left Knoxville and moved to Norfolk, Virginia to be with a married daughter taking the younger children with her. Two sons, William A. Eldridge & Thomas C. Eldridge were both married and remained in Knoxville. Thus the family in Virginia lost touch with those remaining in Knoxville. I have been searching Knoxville records for living members of this family and now I've found you. I will try to answer any questions your children may have about this family, but most of my info is on earlier generations and not Knoxville relations. George E. Eldridge is the son of William A who owned a carriage making business as did his Father, David before him.
