Thomas was a candlemaker and moved during the 1850s, I guess,from Putney to Bromborough Pool on the Wirral - near Liverpool. Thomas had a number of children, including Alfred Allen, my great grandfather, who moved back to London and ran the Rose and Crown pub in Goswell Road until his death in 1900.
