In the book Early Virginia Immigrants by George Cabell Greer, there is a listing for
Eldredge, Samuell, 1637, by Justinian Cooper, Isle of Wight Co.

Eldrege, Samuell, 1642, by Justinian Cooper

Eldrige, Saml., 1636 by Justinian Cooper, Warrasquinoak Co.

Eldrige, Hugh, 1652, by Richard Coleman

Eldrige, Debo., 1653 by Major Abra.Wood, Charles City Co.

A variation on the spelling on the same page, but the earliest listing of an Eldridge in the south and the earliest I can find for a Samuel.
I also have a copy of 1717-1778 birth, death and sponsors listing of Ablemarle Parish register of Surry and Sussex Counties, Va. listing Thomas and Martha and Captain William and Anne as well as Thomas and Judith and Thomas and Elizabeth.
I'm still trying to find the Samuel born app. 1765 who married Priscilla Carr dau of Mary Davis. Who are his parents? He had one son, James Sanders Eldridge who was born in Nelson CO Ky in 1792 and died in Ill in 1872, got any clues. Thanks
