Am thrilled to find your post, although I am 3 years late. I just posted on BRAYTON GenForum looking for Desc. of Caleb BRAYTON and Phebe CARR (my 3rd great grandparents).

Caleb was son of Gideon BRAYTON and Eda ELDRIDGE and I have never before found any reference to her. I hope you may have found her parents. Do you have a death date for Gideon or dates for her? Where do I find info on Gideon's service as a Loyalist?

The BRAYTON Family History by Clifford BRAYTON lists 4 children for them: Benjamin with a son David, Freeborn, Caleb b 1773, and Mary.

Caleb was in Washington County through the 1830 Census. In 1840 he was in Conquest, Cayuga Co., NY. In the 1850 town of Conquest Census, my John BRAYTON and wife Betsy and 6 children are with them as is Benjamin BRAYTON (age 80-prob. Caleb's brother) and Jemima WHITFORD (age 44 - a married daughter).

Please check my BRAYTON posts #130 and #33. Hope to hear from you. M Carpenter
