Hi Mary:

Sorry, but while your Eldridge folks may be VERY distantly (1600's) related to mine, I doubt there are any recent connections. I know mine go back to New England in 1600s and were from Norfolk UK before that.

It's curious, but here in North America, we often tend to know all the ancestors back to the time they arrived in the New World (and sometimes a few generations before that in the Old). I notice that folks in UK or other areas of Europe (can I use that term ?) are trying to trace people from 150-200 years ago, which to me seems like yesterday. The oldest people I grew up with were born in the 1860s and they told me about people living 60-80 years before that.

I am as old as Uncle John Hines (1863-1958) who used to tell me about his family. So I guess I am now 138 years old. God, no wonder I have days I don't want to get out of bed !!
