Stephen Nichols master, bound for New Jersey at London, departed 8-19-1678 to 9-7-1678 arrived NJ 4-16-1679. Thought to have spent some time at Barbados W.I. This is the first (earliest) actual spelling of ELDRIDGE that I have found. During my researching this, I found a Hannah ELDRIDGE, Salem CO, NJ married 6-18-1750 to Joseph ALLEN, Shrewsbury, Salem CO, NJ. Allen was a Quaker. I believe Hannah to be the daughter of Jonathan ELDRIDGE. I sent a query to vol. look up SARA at Salem CO, NJ. Requesting marriage data of Jonathan. She sent back, Jonathan ELDRIDGE married #1. Mary ANTRUM 9-12-1744, #2. Abigail ATKINSON 1750. This Jonathan most likely son of Jonathan #1 that came over on "SUCCESS". Jonathan #2 most likely brother to Hannah. This could be the start of ELDRIDGE's in America, instead of descending from Robert ELDRED! I'd like to hear from others concerning this. Martie
