Jacqueline.....I think that might just be "paydirt" on my Cemantha/Samantha. So many times the spelling was off as many didn't know HOW to spell back then. I took my spelling off the death records of John E. Dennis, I have since found that Samantha's father was John Plinn Elderkin so I am going to go ahead here and assume that in your 1850 census he is the one and the same John P. Elderkin. I do know they lived in Troy Twp., Wood Co., Oh. Now as for the David being a brother, it does sound plausible given the ages and places of birth being so similar. Would you happen to have more on this line? As noted, I have nothing on the Elderkins. Thanks, Connie
