Can anyone help me with Elder families who lived at Drainie and Stotfield?- I hope I have the place names correct. I am going from census records and BMD's so far. I thought Stotfield was Staffiels!
I have an Alexander Elder born about 1803, died Aug. 24, 1878 who was married to Isabella Nicol. They are both buried at the Kinneddar Cem. at Lossiemouth, according to online photos which I have just found. I have names of four children for this couple so far, John, William, Margaret and Isabella, born between 1836 to 1845. The eldest John was born at Caithness, same place as his mother Isabella. Alexander was born at Rosshire.
From Alexander's death record, I find his parents were John Elder and Margaret Elder. Alexander had a sister Margaret Elder born 1798 who married a Donald More or Moore on July 22, 1820 at Ross & Cromarty.
Hope these names sound familiar to someone, I need all the help I can get!
