Hi Susan,
My G Grandmother was Matilda Elbin, born 22, May 1834, in Bedford Co, Pa. She was married to Benjamin Johnson, born 1829 or 1832 in PA. They had eight children, five born in Alleghany, Md. and three born in Southhampton and Mann Twp in Bedford Co Pa. Children:SARAH 1854, Effie 1856, Nancy 1858, JOHN 1860, Lucy 1862, Elmira 1868 in Pa, Anson 3 Dec. 1867, (my grandfather), Elizabeth 1873.
Elbinsvill is still a town,(not much) we visited it, at the New Hope Church in Elbinsville, Matilda's dad, Nathaniel is buried there, plus a lot of other Elbins. Nathaniel was married to Nancy Moore. Their childre are: Otho 22 Oct 1827, George 1830, Elizabeth 1832, MATILDA 22 May, 1834, Mary 1838, Sophia 1840, Sarah Ann 1852. The 1850 census indicated that Nancy was raising the children alone, so appearantly Nathaniel had died.

We hit a bit of a wall with Nathaniel, if this gets the train on the track maybe we can locate more of these folks.
Jim
