I am part of the ELBEL's French branch ,which
settled to Alsace (Eastern province ;main city :Strasbourg )around 1655 ,from Bavaria ,
Germany ,where the oldest notice I found goes
back to 1387,in a province called Oberfranken (where the South Bend Elbel's come from ).I am wondering what happened to
one of my relatives Jean Jacques Philippe ELBEL ,born Sept.30th 1850 in Ittlenheim(Alsace) ,who emigrated to the States.
