I found a single grave at a old farm home near Centerville, Iowa. It belonged to Spencer Wadington who died in 1878. There was a plaque next to the grave with a story.
Martin Elam was traveling west when he stopped and remained at the Wadington home.
Having no children, he willed his home and farm to Martin Elam who farmed until 1911 and died at the age of 79. The farm was passed on to his daughter Dora A. Elam who married Cal Teater and died 1945 at 78 years of age. The farm was passed on to Martin Merle Teater until 1961.
It was really nice to see that someone took the time to preserve some history of the old broken down brick home and of the single grave.
