I had heard of the book you mentioned! My great grandfather was William Eiler b. sept. 22, 1888. According to the 1925 census records in Cerro Gordo County Iowa, his parents are listed as J R Eiler and Helen Marie Smidt who were both born in Germany. According to stories William was smuggled out of Lower Russia when a toddler with other children, and his parents were suppose to come later, but had been killed before they could leave. In all of the census records he is listed as born in Iowa. Pretty controversial! Don't know if that was just a made up story or what! He married Geneva Ruark in 1908 and they had two children, Frederick b. 1913 Greely Colorado and Juanita Marie b. 1915 Ventura, Iowa. Geneva was b. 1877 in Dorchester Co. MD to Joseph and Elizabeth Newcom Ruark. Geneva had been married before and had children from previous marriage. She left them all! Sort of looked down upon in those days!
Would you look this up in your book? William is my brick wall! I would like any info on his ancestry if we connect. It would be greatly appreciated.
