I finally got back to Jefferson and was able to located the obituary of Abijah on the front page of the Jefferson Bee, April 7, 1915.

A.B. EICHER IS CALLED HOME
Sick for a number of Months with Bright's Disease and Complications with Heart
The sudden death of Mr. Abijah Eicher was one of the notable events in Greene county this week. He passed peacefully away at an early hour Monday morning, death coming with not a struggle, or warning of any kind, his good wife not discovering that his soul had taken its flight until the breakfast hour. Mr. Eicher was sitting up Sunday evening, seemingly much better in a bodily way than usual. He visited with neighbors who had called, and expressed himself as feeling stronger than for days. He was a devout member of the Methodist church, taking great interest in religious work and being faithful upon his duties at the sanctuary.
Mr. Eicher had been afflicted with Bright's Disease for some time, in fact had been conflicted to his bed most of the winter. Arterial sclerosis also developed, this double affliction causing a weakened heart action and oppressed breathing. Oweing to his advanced age there has been no hope of ultimate recovery, although his relatives and friends have been most devoted to him in the work of easing over his periods of distress. His son, Mr. J.A. Eicher, of Colorado was here until a short time ago, and before he returned home, Mr. J.I. Eicher came from South Dakota. The latter had to go home a few days ago, since with time his daughter, Mrs. Banks, has been assisting the good wife in his care.
Abijah Beach Eicher was born July 10, 1837, in Richland county, Ohio. He was wedded on October 8, 1857 to Margaret Ruth Allen, who passed away July 23, 1901in this city. Four children were born to this union, there being J.A. Eicher of Brush, Colorado; Arminda J. Banks, of Grant township; J.I. Eicher, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Sarah, wife of John Young, who died February 17, 1904.
Mr, Eicher moved from Ohio to Cedar county, Iowa, in the spring of 1860, which locality was his home for 12 years. In 1872 he again moved, coming to Greene county and settling in Bristol township, section 13, a farm now owned by J.C. LeGore. In the year 1899 the Eichers moved to Jefferson, residing in the southwest part of town until a few years ago when they moved to the former Keller property to east Lincoln Way.
Mr. Eicher was again wedded on November 11, 1904 to Lucy L. Clark of Crestline, Ohio, and together they lived in happy companionship until he was called home [illegible] and who, with the children mentioned above, now mourns his passing.
Funeral services will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon, at 2 o'clock, from the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Collins, and interment will be made in the local cemetery.

While this still leaves a lot of questions unanswered, at least it fills in some details. My one hope of finding the parents of Abijah is through his sister's obituary, which I still have to obtain. Hopefully I can do that one day soon.
