Do you recognize the John Eichelberger family of Wheatland Twp, Will Co., IL (1860), or the Charles Eichelberger family of East Waterloo, Black Hawk Co, IA (1900)? There's a connection.
John Eichelberger and wife, Susan (-?-) brought their family from Pennsylvania to Wheatland Twp, Will Co, IL, circa 1852. I'm trying to identify the birthplace of John, reportedly 1815 in Pennsylvania.
1860 US Census, Illinois, Will Co, Wheatland Twp
John Eichelberger, 46 (1814), Farmer, b Penn.
Susan " , age 37 (1823), b Penn.
Henry " , age 11 (1849), b Penn.
Louisa " , age 10 (1850), b Penn.
John ", age 7 (1853), b ILLINOIS
Mary A. ", age 5 (1855), b Ill.
Emma ", age 3 (1857), b Ill.
Clinton ", age ?/12 (1860), b Ill.
In Will Co, IL, the Eichelberger's owned the farm adjacent to the Starks (my research subject) and I find several intermarriages with the Rickert and Bomberger families in Will Co. and nearby DuPage Co, IL. After 1866, brothers Enos and Martin Stark, along with several other Will Co. families, migrated west to Black Hawk Co, Iowa.
Of interest to Eichelberger researchers is the appearance of a Charles Eichelberger, b June 1864 in Germany, who came to Iowa and married Emma (-?-) in 1895 and settled down adjacent to Martin and Elmira (Rickert) Stark, former residents of Will Co, IL.
Lots of great clues here ... do you have the answers?
1) Where was John Eichelberger born (1815 PA)?
2) Who is his wife, Susan? (b 1823 PA)
2) Where in Pennsylvania did John Eichelberger and wife, Susan, reside prior to their move to Illinois?
3) Where in Germany was Charles Eichelberger born (June 1864)?
4) What's the connection between John Eichelberger (b 1815 PA) and Charles Eichelberger (b 1864 in Germany)?
