My maiden name was Ehmann and our family has resided in NJ since 1962. There was a family story about twin sons one leaving Germany, (they lived in (Hessen or in the north of Bavaria) in the 1800's and the other staying in Germany. My grandfather is descended from the son that remained in Germany. I have Ehmann cousins in NJ as well. Their dad immigrated to the US in 1956. My dad, Friedric August Ehmann was the oldest, my uncle Emil Gregor Ehmann is deceased but was the middle son. My youngest uncle Heribert Ehmann did not leave Germany. My grandfather's name was Richard Ehmann and he died in Germany in 1977. I'd love to find a connection to the Ehmann's in the US. I have corresponded with several people in Ca. Co. and NY but this little family story does not fit into anyone else's tree.
