My great-grandmother, Barbara Egner's father Michael was a butcher in New York City. He was born in Germany approximately 1838 and his wife Julia was born in Bavaria approximately 1842. My g-grandmother was born in NYC in 1867. Michael and Julia had the following children: Sophia, Barbara, Otta (or Otto), Phillip, Anna, John, and Catharine. I found this information in the 1880 census so they were still in NYC at that time. Does any of this sound familiar?
