Eggleton Family Genealogy Forum

Hi, Paul! William Eggleton is my ancestor, so I am interested in your post. Please clear up something for me, if you are able: your reference to "Kingston, Herefordshire". I can only find KINGTON or KINGSTONE in Herefordshire. Which one of these would match your information? Also, since he was tried in Kingston-upon-Thames, which is (if my Australian knowledge is correct) part of Greater London, could the similarity of the names be fooling us? What evidence is there to show that he came originally from Herefordshire at all? One of our family researchers states that his birthplace was Southwark, London, but it is only certain that this was his place of trial. Another says that it is "Kingston Ham, Herefordshire". I am guessing that this is Kington, which, from my map, certainly seems to fit the description of a 'ham'. I would be very grateful if you could tell me your source, because maybe you have something more reliable than these conflicting accounts. Many thanks! (You can email me on jarman_ah@yahoo.com.au if you choose).
