Horace Eggleston is listed in the 1850 and 55 census of Triangle, Broome Co. NY. With him is his wife Maria and several children, including Seymour Eggleston, who is not really an Eggleston, but a Taft, from Maria's first marraige to John Ordway Taft.
Horace is not listed on the 1860 census. Seymour has left Broome Co. by that point also, and is living with Frederick English in Chenango Co. NY. Frederick's wife is named Maria....
Could Horace have died and Maria remarried a third time?
