Johanna and Laura Eggleston SISTERS?

I knew I was going to mix things up... here, let me try this again
Here is what I know
LAura Eggleston B 1809 in New York, was married to Thomas Powell d 1850 with whom she had one child, Elizabeth Powell b 1848 (my 3rd G Grandmother) B 1848. After the death of Thomas Powell she moved to Iowa and married Absalom Dennis either prior to the move or when she got to Iowa. I can't find her in NY at all but have peiced together quite a bit once she moves to Iowa. It looks like she and THomas also had another daughter Frances born 1851
Johanna Eggleston (my 4th g grandmother) B 1820 and D 1841 who married to John Lackor, with whom she had a child, William Smith Lackor (my 3rd G Grandfather). They both died young and are buried together and I have verified this with their headstone.
Family History states that Laura and Johanna were sisters and when Johanna and her husband passed at a very early age, Laura raised her child. ( I have found census information to verify that William Smith Lackor was indeed living with Laura). In the end, William married the daughter of Laura, Elizabeth Powell. They could have been first cousins.
I have not been able to find Johanna and Laura together, nor do I have parents for either and I am open to possibility that they could have been cousins.
I would love to move on back with the Eggleston line but I am stuck. It has been especially difficult as most information I can find that far back relates to the male most of the time.
Any Eggleston gurus who want to help me out?
