Jim,
Thank you very much for the extensive look-ups in the early New York histories!
On the other look-ups requested, Judith Eggers found that there was no mention ofEggers in "The History of Monmouth Co. N.J." by Franklin Ellis nor in the "History of Monmouth and Ocean Counties" by Salter."This Old Monmouth of Ours", by Wm. S. Horner, mentioned John Baird and his wife Avis on page 273 and their four sons, but made no mention of the second marriage of Avis, widow of John Baird, to George Eggers in 1749.(The marriage bond between George Eggers and Avis was issued in Monmouth Co. N.J. and George was found in the records of the Old Tennent Church in Freehold.)
Forum members, I'm still hoping for look-ups in "Old Times in Monmouth" and"Marriage Licenses prior to 1784 (NY)".I suspect that we may find Daniel Eggers' marriage to Phoebe in New York, rather than in Augusta, Virginia as has been widely published. At least two of Daniel's children wereborn in the 1770's, while Daniel was still listed on the tax rolls of Orange Co. NY, and early marriages of Virginia do not list Daniel and Phoebe.
Jim, thank you again for taking so much time to list the Eggers (and variations) found on your CDs!All possible leads are most welcome!
