Katharina Egger died before Ulrich Kaufmann migrated to US. He lived in Ohio a short while and then came to Helvetia area west of Portland, OR. The original ancestor that I found was Anderli Egger b. ca 1526, place unknown. He m. Elsbeth Stalder of Grindelwald. There is a legend in the family that one of the ancestors of either the Kaufmanns or Eggers went over the Mtns. and came home with an italian wife.
