I recently purchased a family album containing 17 studio portraits, including one depicting four children taken by Carroll, Sheffield, IL, identified on the back in period handwriting:
"Wilmina, Hazel, Winnie & Hazel
The last name "Hazel" is obviously an error. The identity of this child, estimated to be 1 year old in the photo, is uncertain, but is probably Thomas Stanley Egerton, based on the apparent ages of the three girls.
I found the family listed in the 1900 Census data for Seatonville Village, Bureau Co., IL; the 1910 Census data for Depue Village, Bureau Co., IL; and the 1920 Census data for Blue Island, Cook Co., IL. I also found the WWII draft registration card for Thomas Stanley. Members are:
Tomas (sp?) I. Egerton, head, preacher, b. Mar 1865 in England
Minnie Egerton (maiden name unknown), wife, b. Jul 1866 in Canada
Wilmina Egerton, daughter, b. Aug 1889 in IN
Hazel Egerton, daughter, b. Jan 1891 in IN
Winnie Egerton, daughter, b. Apr 1892 in IL
E. Irene Egerton, daughter, b. Mar 1894 in IL
Thomas Stanley Egerton, son, b. 8 Aug 1895 in Tonica, IL
Lillian H. Egerton, daughter, b. about 1902 in IL
Grace E. Egerton, daughter, b. about 1903 in IL
Also living in the household at the time of the 3 Jan 1920 enumeration were two grandaughters, Kathleen Spencer, born about 1913 in WI, and Elizabeth Spencer, born about 1914 in IL, but I don't know the parents of these two children.
Other surnames appearing in this album are Burgess, Hall, Hutchinson, McNabb, Porter, and Stanford.
