I am unfamiliar with the Smith Creek railroad.Where did it start and end and when was it built? My great-grandfather, James Eagen, came to the US about 1865 from Kilkenny according to his obituary. We now know of the following children: Richard b.1828 may have been the oldest and he arrived in the US around 1850, Edward, Mary, Ellen, Bridget, John - all born in Ireland- and there were probably others. Most of the family came at different times but settled in Milwaukee.Around 1870 Richard moved his family to Manistee, Mich and was joined by his parents, plus Edward, Bridget (who had married G.B. Owens). The three geographical areas where we appear to be getting the most evidence of other family are Milwaukee, WI, Manistee, MI and Chicago, IL, but Cadilac, Traverse City, Ludington and Grand Rapids are in the running.Am I getting warm?
