My maternal GG grandmother was Mary Ann "Polly" Edwards. She was born 1822 in Clanton, Chilton Co, Alabama. She was married first to Seaborn Cleckler in 1848. They had two daughters, Barbara Ann (Hubbard) and Margaret "Meg" (Childress). In 1856, she married Thomas Childress. They had Reuben Densmore, Alfred Filmore, Matilda, Liza and William Newton. William Newton Childress was my G grandfather. Mary Ann died in Chilton County in 1906. She is buried in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery #1.
I am searching for Mary Ann's parents. She stated that they were both born in Georgia. In 1880 an R. Edwards, born 1844 Alabama, was living in the household of Mary Ann and Thomas Childress. Possibly a younger brother??? The only Edwards in their area was William Edwards born 1803 Georgia. He was a widower. Later I THINK he was married to Hulda. Could this be Mary Ann's father??? This is the only brickwall in my tree. If any of this sounds familiar, PLEASE contact me.
