There was one other child listed on that 1900 Census--Frances--or Fannie Sanders-married-- b. 1879.
All Edwards children show b. Alabama as well as their parents.
Census also shows Sarah had 10 children, 9 living--8 Edwards--one Channell on 1900 Census.
So in Carothers, Pickens Co., Al 1880 Census , I found a Sam Edwards b. 1849 AL. with wife Sarah b. 1859 (you know how Census dates are) with 2 daughters--F C age 2 and M A age 1.
Cannot find this family in 1900.
It's a long shot--but it's the only Sarah I could find anywhere near the correct age.
You might find birth records for Pickens Co., AL or death record for Sam.

Where is your Purvis family from ?
