SUITE (SUIT, SOOT, SUTE, SHUTE) and EDWARDS in MD & NC
Joseph Edwards of St. Mary's Co. MD died in Halifax Co. NC
Bet. 28 Sep 1783 - May 1794. His wife was "Mary Ann" (Suite or Suit??). In Joseph Edwards' will Richard SUIT witnesses it. I am seeking the parents of this particular Joseph EDWARDS and Mary Ann SUIT. There was another Joseph EDWARDS in St.Mary's Co. MD who was married to Sarah SUIT, d/o Thomas SUIT. Their children are listed in Thomas' will. Then in the 1800's, another EDWARDS (Alexander EDWARDS) in St. Mary's married Mary E. SUIT who I believe was the sister of my ancestor Norris SUIT. This Alexander was b.ca. 1825 and Mary E. Suit was b.ca. and d. bet 1870-1879 in St. Mary's Co. MD. They had 1 child together named Norris Marshall Edwin Edwards, "Edwin", who apparently never married or had issue and died ca. 1910-1920 in MD.
I am seeking the parents of the specific Joseph EDWARDS who married "Mary Ann"--I have the names of some of their children from his will. Richard SUIT witnessed the will and I believe he was related to her somehow.
I just received a will for a man named Richard SUITE of Halifax Co NC who died in 1801. He was married to a "Rebecka" and had living children who were unnamed. He also stated that his mother and sister were still living at the time he wrote his will, but did not name them either. He named a James Judge as his executor and the will was witnessed by a Jeremiah Morris and Thomas Jordon.
QUESTION: Does anyone know who Rirchard SUITE/SUIT was and when he was born or who the mother and sister were? **there was a man named Jesse SHUTE living in Halifax at thesame time. Was he related? Was he the Jesse SUITE from MD? I saw a man named Jesse "SHUTE" got a land grant in TN and was from NC. Does anyone know anything about him?
