Who is Emma M. Edwards, b 26AUG1869 in Alabama?
With help from Edwards and Braziel researchers, I have composed the following:
Emma M Edwards was the daughter of Alonzo M. Edwards and Amelia M. Braziel. Emma was born August 26, 1869 in ?? AL. She was not born in Smith Co., TX as my family verbal lore indicated. On the 1870 census she was 10 months old living with her parents in Elmore AL. On the 1880 census she was living as the daughter of Amelia and the stepdaughter of Adolphus (or Adolfus or Dolf) Hicks in Smith Co., TX. By this relationship, Amelia is my half great aunt.
After the death of her mother, Amelia M Braziel Edwards Hicks, on April 07, 1884, Emma, who was 12, went to live with relatives in AL. I don’t know who these relatives were and would like to know. Her half brothers, Dolfus (or Dolphus) Leroy (D L or Roy) Hicks and Asbury Zachary (Zack) Hicks, remained with the Hicks family in Texas. I have close personal knowledge of my grandfather D L Hicks and some personal knowledge of Zack Hicks.
Emma M Edwards married W. J. Betts 20 Dec 1888 in Elmore AL.
Emma Betts died 12-6-1942 in Madison Co., AL
Can anyone help me find out more about Emma M Edwards Betts. I do not find her in any census after 1880. I would like to know who her children were and her grandchildren so I can get in touch with them.
