The "Abel Edwards bible" was written by Abel Edwards Jr's family not Abel Sr and his wife Mary Potts. This bible was at one time in the possession of the Edwards family in Madison Co., NC and I have photostatic copies if it. The vast majority of the bible entries have been written long after the birth dates and most of them were written at the same time by the same pen and by the same person. Parts of the original entries were erased and new entries (of a different family) were inserted. Many children of Abel Sr offspring are not listed. The bible cannot in my opinion be considered accurate.
All evidence that I have indicates that Abel Sr. was probably born about 1753 and married about 1771. Abel is listed in Loudoun Co., VA list of titheables for about 5 years before he went to Henry Co., VA. He moved from there to Sullivan Co., TN., where he died about 1825.
