I am searching for information on my GG Grandfather, William EDWARD(S), b. 24 Sep 1844, in Inverness, Aberdeenshire (per the 1861 census.) He came to the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA in 1872 as a miller for the company that eventually became Quaker Oats. In 1866 in Urquhart, Moray, he married Isabella Hay WINCHESTER (b. 1846 in Garmouth, Elginshire) They had at least 5 children in County Moray.

By looking at the Scotland censuses online in ancestry.com, I think I may have located William with his parents, John EDWARD and Ann BOOTH as follows:

1851 - John EDWARD b. ca. 1799 at Menmuir, Forfarshire; miller at the Mill of Eslemont, Ellon, Aberdeenshire. With him are his wife, Ann, and sons James (b. ca. 1838 in Oldmachar, Aberdeenshire), and William (b. ca. 1845 in Moerary, Aberdeenshire.) There certainly could be other children who had already left home by 1851.

In 1861, the family are living in Newhills, Aberdeenshire at the address of Mill of Buxburn where John is shown as a miller. John's birthplace is now shown as Fetteresso, Kincardineshire so that seems odd, but the other details seem to match. Son James is no longer shown with the family, but William is still with them.

Is this enough information for you to possibly link these people with your family or give me some direction on where else I might search?

Thank you for your help.
