Edson D. Cardner, b. 1829, probably NY
I have been looking at this guy as perhaps a part of my husband's family, probably a brother to his great great grandfather.
There was also an Edson Cardner in Oneida, NY, shown as a manager or owner of a tavern.
Back then, the Cardners were Seventh Day Baptists. I have been looking for some Edsons who were also. These families traveled together and lived near each other. Some of the more numerous surnames in that church were Burdick, Greene, Church, Colegrove, Barber, and Chesebrough to name a few.
I am convinced that there is a family with surname Edson connected ot the Cardners. They named all the children very properly with the first and middle name relating back to involved families.
The name Edson Cardner continued in this family to the present day.
This Edson D. Cardner was in the Civil War out of NY, enlisting in 1861. I believe the records say he entered as a 1st Lt.
Trying to make a connection to some Edsons with these surnames in the family. I have not a shred of proof about this guy, just feel very strongly.
Sydney Cardner(the Sydney is female)
