We are from the JOHN HARTLE / SARAH SHAY lineage of MADRID , ST.LAWRENCE CO., NY.
One of their children was named Edsall Hartle.
It was posted on the 1850 census for Madrid.
Sarah SHAY may have been related to your Philp Shay. I was to the understanding at sometime back the SHAY / EDSALL families joined in marriage.
The Hartle`s moved into Ontario, Canada about 1852.
