RENCHER, Pa. or Md.
I read the Edney forum often to see if there is a ANY way to connect my Renchers from Ireland with the Renchers that were here in the "colonies" from the beginning of time (it seems!) LOL.Our first known immigrant was John Grant Rencher, b. 1744.He shows up in the Rev. War 1776-1777 in the Pa 4th.Then in Anne Arundel Co.Md in 1778. From there he migrated to Orange, then Wake Co. N.C.I feel strongly that he must have had relatives here already to leave Ireland. I have not been able to find his name on any ships list, nor can I make a connection to the exisiting Renchers. He named his first born son Samuel (Samuel only lived to be 5)with first wife Annie Lewis.Other children follow southern naming traditions.
If anyone has any insight, I would be terribly grateful!
thanks
Bev
