Phillip,

If you have a subscription to ancestry.com you can find some patent records on Edmunds & Whittinghams in the following.
There could be others, but I happened to have just researched this set of 3 volumes within the past few days and happened to have the info on my computer.

Early Virginia Families Along the James River: Their Deep and Tangled Branches. Volume II
http://www.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=49135
Source: Original data: Foley, Louise Pledge Heath. Early Virginia Families Along the James River: Their Deep and Tangled Branches. Volume II (Charles City County-Prince George County, Virginia). Baltimore, MD, USA: Genealogical Publishing Co., 2002.

Edmonds/Edmunds, Wm [indexed p157] 51,54,56,60,85
Whittingham, Wm 28
Winingham, Wm 52
Winningham, John 129 [2]

Wingame, Jon. 21
Winningame, Wm 52

According to a patent issued to Mr. Henry Batts & James Thweate, 673a, 2R,6P, Chas. City Co, Parish of Jordan's,
on S. s James River, 20 Apr 1682, p156. Beg. upon line of
Mr. William Winingham (Winingame), to Mr. Edmunds, crossing the gr. Swamp, by Mr. Addenton (Adenton) &c. Trans. of 14 pers.*

Unfortunately unless you go thru the whole volume of patents
you don't know which patent book the referenced pages belong to. However; you might be able to locate the patent book for that year for Charles City Co. and find p156.

The source was taken from 14 volumes of patent books,
which were originally from the follow resources:

PB 1-5 were taken from Nell Nugent's "Pioneers and Cavaliers. Abstracts of Virginia Land Patents and Grants, 1623 - 1666."

PB 6-14 were also taken from her litigated, pre-published manuscripts. These abstracted proofs were photo-copied and are housed in three volumes at the Virginia State Library and Archives which plans to index and publish them.
Headrights (Emigrant persons whose transportation was paid for them by a Virginia Company of London share or stock holder or another in exchange for a period of indenture), other named persons and places were not included. This report includes 52 pages of indexed names and "brings thousands of previouly unindexed names out of oblivion."

If you don't have access to ancestry let me know.

The 1704/5[Julian] Rent Roll for Prince George Co. in this volume lists:
Jno Winningham, Jr 200a
Thomas Winningham 100a
Edward Winningham 100a

I hope this helps.

Dianna
